Vihamanaafushi | Kurumba Maldives
A secluded private island Vihamanaafushi (also Vihamana Fushi ; German " island without poisonous plants "), better known under the tourist name Kurumba ( " Coconut "), is a resort island in the Maldives in North Male Atoll (administrative Atoll Kaafu ).
The approximately 500 × 250 meter island is located in the immediate vicinity of the airport island of Hulhulé and is about 5 km from the capital island of Malé ; the journey to both the airport and Malé takes about 10 minutes by speedboat. Other neighboring islands are the town Malé belonging artificial island Hulhumale in the east, Farukolhufushi (Faru) and Furana (Full Moon Beach) in the northeast and the President island Aarah in the West.

Culture and history info
The first president of the Maldives, Mohamed Amin Didi , was exiled after his fall to Vihamanaafushi in 1953, died the following year as a prisoner and was buried there.
- In 1972 an Italian entrepreneur opened on Vihamanaafushi, which was renamed Kurumba, the first resort of the Maldives.
- In 1977 the German artist Blinky Palermo died surprisingly on the island during his holiday.
- In 2003/4 extensive renovation work took place. The hotel complex offers 180 bungalows, several restaurants, a spa and various (water) sports activities, making it one of the largest hotels in the country.
Since the transformation of the resort to Villingili into a residential area, Kurumba is the tourist island closest to the capital and the airport. The island is densely covered with coconut palms and has been heavily cultivated since the tourist development. Source : A loose translation Wikipedia
